Empowering adults with Special needs through education and employment
South Fork Bakery is a 501C3 business with a mission to provide meaningful paid employment to special needs residents in our local communities. For the first time on the East End of Long Island, there is a place where people with special needs are supported to work and encouraged to be a contributing member of their community. We see beyond disabilities and instead see employees willing, able and excited to work!

“Happiness is a handmade South Fork Bakery cookie!”
“Being around the employees is a magical experience, the way they are just so kind and respectful and so willing and hardworking.”
— Craig Lee, Parent
“It’s hard with everybody’s particular needs to find an activity where you can all participate at once and the bakery is that. There is space and room and support, almost like a spiritual quality in terms of everyone feeling great about what they are doing. There’s a larger purpose and that’s infectious!”
— Margery Mailman, Parent
“I work here because I like cookies. They taste great, and I feel good making them. I know a lot of people like them, and it gives me a sense of worth I didn’t have at my previous jobs.”
— Geoffrey Brodrick, Employee
“It’s more than a paycheck. It’s a community of nice people, and it’s a really fun bakery”
— Collier Lee, Employee
